MARS Bioimaging: US multi-payer evidence for novel photon-counting CT imaging.
The problem
MARS Bioimaging had developed a photon-counting CT system with significantly higher spectral resolution than conventional CT. The clinical and economic value of this capability needed to be quantified for the US market, where commercial payers, Medicare, and integrated delivery networks each evaluate the same technology against different value frameworks.
The approach
We applied a US, multi-payer lens to the evidence, modelling the clinical and economic value across the payer archetypes that would each see the technology, with assumptions and comparators tuned to each one's decision criteria.
The outcome
Patient pathway maps showing how the technology shifts diagnostic and treatment workflows. A scenario suite covering adoption-rate and price sensitivities. A customer-facing dashboard delivering live simulations for use in business development conversations.
Further engagements
Structural heart implant manufacturer with cardiac portfolio sold across 80+ countries and recent FDA approval in the United States. We built a cost-utility analysis (CUA) for the New Zealand market, with the analytical complexity sitting in the comparator: medication-based standard of care, where consumption patterns and allocation across the relevant patient population had to be modelled accurately to defend the device's value proposition.
Auckland-based intestinal-failure medical device company; Medical Technology Association of New Zealand (MTANZ) Innovation Award winner whose device is now reimbursed across the majority of New Zealand's public health system. We built a CUA with the analytical complexity sitting in the patient pathways: heterogeneous starting conditions, branching transitions, and long-horizon costs that needed to be captured to demonstrate value at scale.
